4 days of Uganda gorillas and golden monkey trekking

Overview

Take part in this 4-day primate adventure of Gorillas and golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park. The safari will begin from either Kampala or Entebbe as you enjoy a scenic drive comprised of Uganda's equator, banana plantations, local gardens, roadside Markets, and more. Gorilla trekking allows you to spend an hour witnessing the beautiful creatures and it's the same as for the golden monkey trekking. Mgahinga National Park is the smallest National Park in Uganda covering an area of 33.9 square kilometres but very rewarding. Have an optional Batwa cultural trail to learn about how the Batwa used to live in the forest alongside the wildlife.

Detailed Itinerary

Day1. Head to Mgahinga National Park from Kampala/Entebbe

The driver guide will pick you up from an agreed point let's say in Kampala or Entebbe and immediately transfer you to Mgahinga National Park. The scenic drive is amazing as you pass through the meandering roads, terraced lands, Cattle farms, and banana plantations. Have a stopover at the equator point for experiment and photo shooting. The journey to the smallest national park in Uganda that is Mgahinga National Park takes about 9 hours and on your arrival, head to the lodge for your accommodations.

Day2. Gorilla trekking

The day will begin with breakfast after waking up and then head to the park offices for a briefing about today's gorilla trekking adventure. This exercise will cover aspects like gorilla behaviors, the guidelines to follow, assigning the park ranger guide, hiring Porters, crosschecking the permits, and more. The trek will begin with the help of the park ranger and this will introduce you to wildlife and nature.

While in the forest, spot more of the primates, birds, and plants, Meet the gorilla family, and spend an hour following their movement learning about their behaviors of feeding, playing, searching for food, and more. Record and take memorable photos since the overall experience can last for about 2 to 5 hours in the forest. After head back to the lodge for your leisure evening and dinner.

Day3. Golden monkey trekking and optional Batwa cultural trail

Like the previous day, head to the park offices for briefing after breakfast which will not be so different from that of gorilla trekking. Here, be told to use a flashlight camera since the golden monkeys tend to draw close as they enjoy the light. The search will be followed with a chance to spotting mountain gorillas, vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and more.

On meeting these primates in the Bammbo forest, spend an hour taking photos as you witness that some of these monkeys miss tails and this is because they are so playful and they end up being cut by tree branches. After head back to the lodge for leisure. Have an optional Batwa cultural trail experience to learn bout how the Batwa used to depend on the forest.

Day4. Head back to Kampala/Entebbe

Breakfast will be served and then hit the road back to Kampala/Entebbe with a stopover at the equator crossline for your hot lunch. Later proceed with the journey and be dropped at an agreed point and this will mark the end of the safari.
